Matthew Weaver

 

 Matthew was born in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, and moved to Salisbury, North Carolina in 1984.

Matthew came from a musical family, and his late uncle, Tommy, was the head of the family band, "Tommy Schaffer & The Blue Mountain Ramblers" and had one of the longest running live radio show in Pennsylvania. Tommy Schaffer owned several music stores throughout the surrounding counties.

Matthew began playing the piano at the age of three, and by the age of thirteen, he mastered 19 different instruments. He is a singer, songwriter, and a award winning musician who played many stages from The Grand Ole Opry, Dollywood, Biltmore, Churches, Mountain & Bluegrass Festivals, Piedmont Players Theater, Lee Street Theater, and more.

Matthew is a 2013 graduate of Appalachian State University with a B.A. in Appalachian Studies and Appalachian Mountain, Bluegrass, Country and Gospel Music. He has a heart and passion for Mission and Humanitarian work throughout the communities of the Southern Appalachian Mountain Regions through Mission, Humanitarian, Education, History, and the Preservation of the Appalachian Mountain Music. He serves through his church, Salisbury First Baptist, ASP-Appalachian Service Project, and Red Bird Mission.

Matthew has served as a JAM (Junior Appalachian Musician) Instructor in Boone, NC since 2011. Matthew serves as pianist for the GV Band, Clay Lunsford & Friends, and Clay & Matthew Americana Show.

Matthew's Hobbies are: Music, Hiking, Fishing, Swimming, and Baseball. Plus making new friends.
